Does James 5:16 Justify Confession to a Roman Catholic Priest?

When I asked a Roman Catholic where in the Bible does it say that we must confess our sins to the priest, he simply stated this verse: James 5:16  So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed. The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect. (Good News Translation) While the verse seems to suggest that you must confess your sins to the priest but there's a huge misunderstanding of the obvious meaning. We must take a look at the phrase "confess your sins to one another" for more understanding. Here's what John Gill a Reformed Baptist theologian has to say about the matter: Confess your faults one to another... Which must be understood of sins committed against one another; which should be acknowledged, and repentance for them declared in order to mutual forgiveness and reconciliation; and this is when death and eternity seem near approaching: wherefore this makes nothing for auricular confession used by the

Is Anyone Ever Born Again in Infant Baptism?

Some Roman Catholics claim that they are the true "born again Christian" while those who call themselves born again Christians just belong to a manmade group. Their reason for being supposedly born again was because they were baptized as infants. The idea of being born again at infant baptism is absurd for these reasons. But does the Bible support any claim anybody is ever born again through infant baptism? Note that some Protestant denominations that practice infant baptism have a very different view from the Roman Catholic view of infant baptism. Let's take a look at Acts 2:38. Acts 2:38 says that you must repent and be baptized. Repent of what? Repent of your sins. This is not about getting baptism in order to be saved but because one is saved. If they misuse the verse Matthew 21:16 to say that babies can believe but here's another question - can babies even repent of their sins? They say the parents repented of their sin and had the babies baptized. Again, I

Understanding Ignatius of Antioch's Statement on the Eucharist

It's already expected that Roman Catholicism takes Scriptures out of context and/or purposely misreads it. If they can't even handle the Word of God with reverence then I don't expect them to handle anything else with reverence except it be the writing of the past Popes and the Roman Catholic priests. One such man is the Christian bishop or overseer. In case Roman Catholics want to argue that the term "bishop" would prove he's one of their kind then they are mistaken. To be a bishop according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 is to be a church leader. Besides, the same passage says that bishops must be family men of moral dignity which is impossible for a Roman Catholic priest who's bound to celibacy. Please note 1 Corinthians 7:35-37 is not a command for priests to stay single all their lives! Now here's a popular misquote from the very passage of Ignatius of Antioch to justify the doctrine of transubstantiation: They abstain from the eucharist and from prayer,

Don't Forget That the Roman Catholic Institution Has a Very Long History of Inciting Sedition

The Roman Catholic institution has its long fraudulent history of claiming to be the "One True Church that was founded in 33 A.D. - Holy, Catholic and Apostolic". The word catholic is a synonym for universal but the disciples were never first called Catholics in Antioch but Christians (Acts 11:26). Catholic was used as an old world for universal which some people today are allergic to that word because Catholic has been used to describe people who are members of the Roman Catholic institution. What can be talked about now is the fact that the Roman Catholic institution has had a long history of inciting sedition in governments. While they claim it to be doing the "work of God" or as the Jesuits say "Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam" or "For the greater glory of God." but is it really? Doing some study of the history of the Vatican has it shown that the Inquisition and later the Jesuit Order have a lot of bloody rags to answer for. Did you know that many

The Ridiculous Roman Catholic View That Marriage Must Be Done Inside Their Church or It's Invalid

I remembered reading through the seven sacraments or ordinances of the Roman Catholic institution in a catechism. One of the teachings is that marriage must be treated as a sacrament. What it also implies is that if your marriage is done in a civil court that even if it was duly registered, that both couples were in a sexually pure union then it's not a marriage. So does that mean that a person can marry in a civil court, get divorced and marry his next spouse in the Roman Catholic institution? Let's address the issue of civil marriage that is pure and holy. In short there was no incest, no adultery and it was between two people who are eligible for marriage. So why should the Roman Catholic institution even think that two people who got married with the sexually pure prerequisites in the eyes of God should be rejected. Is it because unless it's a priest who performs the marriage then the marriage can't be validated? It's a problem with how Roman Catholics have the

Ken Ham's Illustrations on Spiritual Warfare Against Humanism

Image
Dr. Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis made these beautiful illustrations to show what's wrong with the church today. Let's take a look at the two illustrations on how Christians engage their spiritual warfare.  The first illustration reveals the following: One member is asleep when he should be doing something. Another person is firing at the balloons because the person who's supposed to fire it is asleep on the job. Somebody is focused on deflecting cannon balls than hitting the source of the cannon balls. Somebody is treating the whole situation like a game.   By doing so, humanism is victorious whenever the local church is asleep. This is the problem to why Christians tend to fall down in battle at times: Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. In short, if you're not going to stand in the gap on behalf of the land the

No Moral Absolutes Means No Human Rights

We have the truth that human rights activists are everywhere who reject the truth that there are moral absolutes. Many of them have their idea of "Judge not and you will not be judged." As for the atheistic human activists, they tend to carry out Richard Dawkins' quote from the River Out of Eden which says that there's no good, no evil but only pitiless indifference. They think that there are no such thing as moral absolutes. So if they believe that there are no moral absolutes then why are they fighting for human rights which requires moral absolutes to determine them? After all, Dawkins just said there is no purpose but only pitiless indifference. Here's another problem with atheists' appeal to human rights. Why do they appeal to human rights when they claim that there are no moral absolutes and morality is relative? Human rights are determined by moral absolutes that God made. When God made His Ten Commandments and gave the whole Law - He made it as the s

The 9/11 Saga Continues With a Bitter Cycle of Revenge

Image
It's already been sixteen years since September 11, 2001 isn't it? But there's still the feelings of bitterness that remains. There's a saying that two wrongs don't make a right. Just because Muslim terrorists did a suicide bombing didn't give the U.S. authority to attack Muslim countries. The result of former U.S. president George W. Bush's attack on Iraq only gave birth to the ISIS terrorists. The ISIS terrorists then justify their attacks on the West because of Western countries have been bullying Muslim countries. What we see here is the ugly truth that revenge brings no closure. Then the cycle can go on and on with countless people dying without Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Is this cycle of revenge anything new? Not at all. Revenge has been the lifestyle that was given. What's worse is that revenge is nothing more than a misquote of Exodus 21:23-25 and Leviticus 24:19-21. The Bible never condoned any acts of revenge whether it was the

The Characteristics of an Outstanding Local New Testament Church

What makes an outstanding local New Testament church? This is all about how the power of the Holy Spirit brings forth the power of Christ to those who are His. Before everything, let's consider reading 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10: Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.  We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. For our Gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy o

Will Mary the Earthly Mother of Jesus Crush Satan's Head Instead of Jesus?

Image
It's really common for cults to misinterpret and misread verses on purpose isn't it? What should be amusing is that the Roman Catholic institution has had the subtle deception of Mary worship still going on in its system. As a former Roman Catholic, I was misled and misinformed all because I didn't read the Bible for myself. Now it's time to tackle on the Roman Catholic claim that Mary the earthly mother of Jesus will crush Satan's head. Since today is the traditional birthday of Mary the mother of Jesus I hope this article will convict many Roman Catholics of all the erroneous doctrines they have concerning Mary. What's their basis of saying that they are confident that their "mother" will crush Satan's head? They read it from Genesis 3:15. It's really stupid to claim that I have the Roman Catholic institution that I have a Bible (yet it's been forbidden from the laity from being read). The problem goes with the translation betwe

Pastors With Dirty Mouths Aren't Fit to Preach in God's Pulpit

Image
It's a problem but some pastors do have a dirty mouth. It doesn't fit into the qualification of God's pastor. Pastors are not only called to be family men but to be also of good character. Here's what 1 Timothy 3:1-7 says about the qualifications of a pastor: This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (for if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. A pasto

Celebrating Eid El Adha Cannot Wash Away Sins

It's something that the first of September starts off with the Islamic feast of sacrifice. It should break any Christian's heart to see how Eid El Adha is celebrated year after year depending on the cycle of Islamic calendar. It shows how often Muslims are relying on blood sacrifices with the hope for the forgiveness of sins. This should be a message for every Muslim to hear about the fact that the blood of bulls and goats cannot wash away sins. Hebrews 9:11-14  But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood he entered in once into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption for us . For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offer
