Rich Atheists May End Up Finding Themselves in Hell Someday

It's time for a new post concerning atheism considering that it's April 1 isn't it? April 1 is rightfully National Atheist Day while today is also Easter Sunday for this year. Psalm 14:1 says that the fool says in his heart that there is no God. This is the problem today. People who are so foolish are so wise in their own eyes (Proverbs 12:15, 26:12). You have atheists who say Christians are fools because they are "too enlightened" in this day and age to believe that there is a God. Why some atheists even say they are better than Christians is because of existence of rich atheists.

It's no surprise that I read of rich atheists and lower income Christians. This is the situation in Luke 16:19-31. This is what the Bible says about the situation:
There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: [20] And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, [21] And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. [22] And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; [23] And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. [24] And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. [25] But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. [26] And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. [27] Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: [28] For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. [29] Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. [30] And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. [31] And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

We can see the big difference between the rich man and Lazarus. This shows how a life without God is meaningless. The rich man's proof of being unsaved is his disregard of the poor (Proverbs 26:7). While some may argue that there are philanthropist atheists but do they really regard the poor from within or do the just use it for show? Their actions suggest that they only give to the poor for show. The same could be true for the rich man. He may have been openly a philanthropist (though Scripture is silent about it) while he neglected Lazarus who was covered in sores at the same time.

The problem today is no different from the rich atheist and the poor Christian in today's scenario. There are many areas of the world where the gap between rich and poor is that huge. Some are poor not because they are lazy but because they're outcasts. There are times that getting saved may mean getting disinherited and thrown into the streets. Some are poor because the social gap gets bigger giving the working class hardly any opportunity to work. In the case of Lazarus, he was most likely diseased and was considered ceremonially unclean so nobody would give him work.

It's possible to have rich atheists who blame Christianity to why the person is still considered poor. Some may have already started to get better living but they are nowhere near as rich as the rich atheists. Sometimes, they may even be poor because they get wrongfully persecuted. Becoming a Christian in an atheist state may mean getting outlawed. Some are too poor to even leave their country. It becomes a situation where rich atheists can always gloat about their wealth, thinking that they don't need God because they've got their Heaven here but it would one day be too late.

What sets the gap even bigger on Earth is that some of the richest atheists are much richer than the richest Christians around. Some of these atheists even possess so much power that they could manipulate economies of various countries. The richest Christian you may know may not have the power to shake the national economy. Not too much with the rich atheists. It's possible that many of them gain so much easy money through dirty means. What they don't realize is that the only have that money because God allows their wickedness to make them prosperous. They tend to make it look like God isn't in control even when in truth that He allows them to materially prosper towards their final destruction.

The gap between the saved and the unsaved will be much bigger than the rich atheist and the lower income Christian. The great gulf between the rich man and Lazarus was so huge in Abraham's Bosom. Some scholars believe that this place was reserved for those who died in grace in the Old Testament before Jesus brought them into Heaven. With that in mind, the gulf is infinitely bigger. This would be the sad reality. Remember the rich man who denied a crumb? He would be denied a drop. If these rich atheists refused a crumb to any poor Christian because the former regards the latter as "non-human" then imagine how they would be denied a drop that they would ask to cool the tip of their tongue?

The harder part would be where Abraham said, "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead." This is the problem. Many atheists today are told of Moses and the prophets. They are told of the Gospel which they laughed off as just a set of fables. They believe that they are right with their lives because they have plenty of money. But the sad truth is no amount of money can pay anyone out of Hell. This would be the sad reality of rich atheists when they die without Jesus Christ.
